LODEVE: Worth noting: lunch 12 - 2pm and 7pm - 9pm for dinner are the best times. It is not unusual for some restaurants to be closed on Mondays. There are a number of cafés for coffee and snacks in Lodeve and many of the bakeries sell sandwiches and salads to eat in or take-away, ideal for picnics.

Pezenas: Vast choice of restaurants and bistros in this attractive town, many non-stop and with outside eating area in the many of the ‘lanes’ and along the main front area. Allow time to look around the maze of art and craft shops.

La Source in Villeneuvette: Just outside Clermont, has a jungle-like garden and set in an old uniform making factory.
Auberge Val Mouréze: Good food in an amazing setting amongst the weird rock formations of Cirque de Moureze (allow time to visit the cirque), nice for lunch.
La Cavalerie: Off the A75 (north) at junction 47, pretty walled village, lamb exceptional, good value.
Le Vieux Four: In the village of Nézignan l’Eveque near Pezanas, great pizzas for very little. Excellent value.
Gignac Le Pelican: Set amongst the vineyards Tel: 04 67 57 68 92 high price, excellent food. Fine French cuisine.

Meze: An attractive little port with several restaurants for outside eating, lovely setting for lunch, good freshly caught seafood and value for money. Also nearby Sete for fresh fish.
Bouzigues famous for its oysters, a small port with views over the oyster beds, many excellent restaurants with fresh shellfish.

Montpellier: Spoilt for choice amongst the many excellent eating places and bars. Inside and outside, dining at its best in the many squares and side streets.
Abbaye de Valmagne on the route to Sete, delightful café for lunch after a look around the abbey, wine tasting and shop.
Montagnac: Busy small town, turn off motorway towards Beziers route, several restaurants and an Irish pub.
Shopping in Lodeve
There are three supermarkets in the town and many very large supermarkets further afield: The town has several other shops including green grocers, butchers, bakers, cafes, most are open until 7 or 8pm but often close for lunch and some close on Mondays.
SUPER U near to south motorway junction, selling most things open 8am until 8pm, open Sunday mornings in July and August only, their petrol station is open 24/7 with automatic credit card payment. Cash point 24/7.
Carrefour in rue de la Liberte, open 8.30am – 8pm and Sunday mornings.
NETTO avenue de la Republic, open 8.30-7pm, but closed for lunch, limited goods.
Market on Saturday mornings until about 12.30 sells a wide range of fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, crafts, clothes, shoes and a small market of local produce on Tuesday afternoon.
BANKS: Open 8.30 - 12.30 and 2.00 - 6pm, Saturday 8am - 1pm Closed Mondays. All have cash machines 24/7.
Post Office: Halle Dardé place. Open 8.30 - 12.30 and 1.30 - 4.30 Saturday until noon.
Boulangeries and chemists: Many in town, open all different times, usually until 7pm and some on Sundays. Most bakers have takeaway sandwiches, salads and snacks.
Newspapers: Sold in Tabacs in Avenue de la Républic, Ave de la Liberté, SuperU sell most newspapers in various forms and are open differing times.
Hairdressers and beauticians: Many in the town, opening differing times, some are closed Mondays and for lunch.
Cinema often shows films in English if originally made in English, see the schedule on line with films marked VO. The Gym is open for temporary membership, situated near to SuperU on road going towards motorway south junction.

Shopping around Lodeve
Pezenas: Lots of fascinating little stores for unusual gifts and a general market on Saturdays. Shops open late July/ August on Wednesdays/ Fridays until midnight, otherwise 8pm.
Clermont l'Herault: Market Wednesdays mornings, shops in town centre and many large out-of-town stores.
Montpellier: Large indoor shopping mall in city centre and lanes of small shops in city centre. There are also surrounding out-of-town shops and supermarkets.Big market Saturday.
Beziers: Shopping centre and indoor shopping mall close to town. Market in centre of town.
